Since we’re all about hotels and more here at National Hotels, we totally understand that you’d naturally be looking for a hotel with a difference for a wedding venue. We’ve put together a few such venues which go well beyond just providing a high-end place to rest your traveller’s head.
Summer Lodge Country House Hotel – Evershot, Dorset
The name perhaps gives it all away by way of the best time to book this country house hotel as your chosen wedding venue. The green lawns go well with some of the other beautiful shrubbery outside to create a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony, while the 18th-century style of the country house hotel makes for the perfect indoor area for the reception, or for the ceremony itself if you prefer the indoors. Down the road is the character-filled St. Osmund’s Church which just adds another option for the ceremony.
The Savoy – London
What could possibly be more romantic than a wedding held right on the edge of the River Thames? The Savoy offers just that and it isn’t a landmark iconic hotel for nothing. There’s a rather romantic story behind the Savoy, as it was the sight of the first meeting between Sir Laurence Olivier and his wife Vivien Leigh way back in 1935. Despite it being steeped in romance though, the Savoy offers plenty of wedding ceremony options and plenty of options for the reception too. Up to 300 guests can be held in the Lancaster Ballroom for example or if you’re inclined to have a little bit more of an intimate wedding, the Royal Suite on the fifth floor will do.
Inverlochy Castle Hotel – Fort William, Scotland
This is somewhat of a high-end wedding retreat venue for a small, intimate group which will have proceedings kicked-off in fine style, with a Rolls Royce airport transfer from Edinburgh. The West Highland setting of the castle hotel screams romance and since bookings are done all the way up to a year in advance, you can be sure to get the best service. The castle hotel’s Great Hall is fully licensed to hold civil ceremonies, so too the Drawing Room which is also great for the reception since it houses only up to 20 of your guests. Inverlochy Castle Hotel is truly a great wedding venue for a romantic wedding retreat, featuring 17 bedrooms while the bride and groom can solidify their union in the gigantic, romantic Queen Suite.
Alexandra Hotel – Lyme Regis, Dorset
Dorset comes into focus again as the scene for one of the most romantic hotel wedding venues we’ve caught wind of, with the Alexandra Hotel’s gleaming horizons and golden sands that do wonders with the sunshine to make for the ultimate in romantic settings. You can have the wedding ceremony in the 18th century wedding chapel, restored to its former glory while you’ll only have to take a short walk to the ancient harbour wall of the town, the Cobb, to snap your perfect wedding pics.
